Take Charge

By Fèyísìtàn

This morning, I opened the sliding door to my dining room to allow fresh air into the house. I sat down to enjoy my breakfast which was porridge oats…yeah..trying to stay healthy....so help me God!..lol. Gazing into my well laid lawn, nature, and the bright sunny morning. Feeling really excited, happy & with absolute sense of fulfilment, so grateful to God for so many things. I was reflecting on series of messages I had listened to and bible study notes I had read in the past few days then I noticed a wasp wandered into my dining room through the door.

Well, I thought to leave it alone to find its way back out. Few minutes gone past, it was still there, it then migrated from the dining room into my lounge. I thought maybe it would find its way out through the windows in the lounge which I had also left opened earlier. I ignored it for a little while and continued to enjoy my porridge. I was then watching the wasp who was now feeling very comfortable, wandering around my lounge & dining room and was not even going towards the windows in the lounge or back to the door in the dining which it came in from. Then I felt..just because I ignored you doesn't mean you should stay....LOL. I decided to usher it out through that same door it came through back to my back garden.

Like an obedient servant, without struggle or hesitation, it flew out effortlessly. You might say....so what? A wasp wandered in? Big deal? As I watched the wasp fly out..few things came to mind:

1. What you allow in your life, stays there. First line of thought was Sin. Whatever you think of or categorize as sin. If you allow it in your mind, it goes and stays in your head, comes out of your mouth and eventually becomes part of you and that is who you are
2. If I did not open my door, the wasp would not have found its way in. There’s a Yoruba (Nigerian Dialect) proverb that goes like ‘’if the wall is not broken, lizard will not be able to enter’’(that’s my direct English translation). Things don’t just wander into our lives, one way or the other we create the avenue for the things that we allow, condone and tolerate. Whatever it is, we would have created a level of tolerance for it in our minds, so any given opportunity will only manifest it or we give in to the temptation
3. If you ignore it, it stays there. Don’t sit around ignoring important things that need to be dealt with. What you don’t do doesn't get done.

4. Identify it and take action. Get rid of it. Old habits die hard they say...that’s just a myth used to justify continuous bad behaviour. Take charge & kick it out.

ACTION PLAN:
God’s given strength and grace is available to ALL in full measure. All you have to do to receive it is simply ask and it shall be given unto you. We cannot achieve anything in our own strength; this is where the grace of God comes in. While some dead old habits might be difficult to get rid of, with determination and commitment, you can achieve it. Celebrate every level of achievement. Don’t beat yourself up if you fall prey once in a while, learn your lesson(s), identify & avoid the circumstances that made you fall or bring those thoughts to mind.

FACT:
You are who you make yourself to become. If you’re old enough and able to reach this, read this -”you cannot blame anyone for your actions but yourself”. our parents, the government, spouse, children, teacher...whoever. Get rid of the blame game and take Charge!

Thank you for reading this. I hope it’s ministered to you as much as it has to other people.I like to share inspirational messages to motivate people. God is Good, God is real and He is always there for us even when the circumstances around seem otherwise. His ways are not our ways. He’s never late ALWAYS on time
